Optional 'by' breaks the result down by one variable. Rates per 100 persons are not computed (no population denominators are stored)."

      "description": "Ranks ICD-10-CM diagnoses (4-character codes or 3-character categories) or patient reasons for visit (NCHS RFV codes) by weighted number of visits for a survey-year and optional subgroup (age, sex, race/ethnicity, payer, region, injury, or a diagnosis/reason filter). Default counts the first-listed diagnosis/reason (as in NCHS summary tables); position=any counts each visit once per distinct code among all listed. Each row has visits, percent of visits in the subgroup, SE, RSE and the NCHS reliability flag. Medication rankings are not available (the public files carry unlabelled drug codes)."
